Book now: Premium cabin award seats available for these 9 beautiful winter beach escapes

If you want to use your British Airways Avios or Virgin Atlantic Flying Club miles to book flights to popular destinations in premium cabins, you’ll usually need to book well in advance. That means looking ahead to the next European winter where you’ll likely be craving some sunshine on some of the world’s most beautiful beaches.

Good news: There’s plenty of availability across November 2020 to February 2021. I used the awesome Seatspy tool to find all sorts of destinations and dates in different premium classes to these amazing beach locations.

There are at least two seats available to the following destinations on the following dates.

Maldives

The Maldives is one of the most aspirational destinations in the world

, especially for honeymooners. This makes it extremely difficult to use points and miles in premium cabins. Right now, you can use your Avios to fly direct on 6 November in British Airways World Traveller Plus and 20 and 27 November in Club World.

Barbados

Want to combine sunshine, culture, colour but with a sense of home. Try beautiful Barbados. You can use Avios to fly in World Traveller Plus on 2, 4, 5, 6, 9 and 24 December and also in Club World on 24, 27 and 28 February.

If you have Flying Club miles, you can fly Virgin Atlantic on 20 February and 27 February in Upper Class.

Seychelles

The Maldives too predictable? Try this slice of heaven in the Indian Ocean. There’s Avios availability flying BA in World Traveller Plus on 16, 23, 26 and 30 December, as well as 20 February 2021. If you would prefer Club World, it’s available on 9 and 30 December as well as 6 January.

Cape Town

Cape Town is always popular during the Northern winter period and usually difficult to reach on points and miles especially during Christmas and January. Right now, you can book BA in World Traveller Plus on 12, 14, 24, 30 and 31 December as well as 1 February in Club World.

With Flying Club miles, there’s even better availability on Virgin’s new nonstop service. In Premium class, it’s available everyday from 28 December to 8 January. In Upper Class, you can choose from 7, 8, 9 December or 5, 6, 7, 12 or 21 January.

Rio De Janiero

For Flying Club, you can fly business class on KLM every day from 18-31 December.

Antigua

Another tropical paradise sees Avios availability on 8, 15 and 30 December in World Traveller Plus. Flying Club has great availability on 2, 4, 6, 7, 11, 13, 14, 16 and 20 January in Premium and 4, 6, 7, 14, 21, 25 and 28 in Upper Class.

Miami

Miami is usually difficult to find premium cabin availability for using points and miles, but there is incredible availability right now. Using Avios, you can book World Traveller Plus on 25 and 28 December as well as 5, 6, 9, 11, 13 and 13 January and Club World is even better. As well as key pre-Christmas dates like 21, 22 and 23 December, there is Club World availability every single day from 4 January until February 12 (yes, more than 30 days in a row!).

Flying Club availability is also excellent. You can fly in Premium every single day from 19 December to 31 January, or if you would prefer Upper Class you can book 13-17, 22, 23, 29-31 December as well as 4-6, 10, 12, 13, 15, 16, 18-22 January 2021 on Virgin Atlantic.

Bangkok

The city of Bangkok itself doesn’t have a beach, but it’s the perfect springboard to the beautiful beaches all over Thailand. You can use Avios to book World Traveller Plus on 10 December or Club World on 5, 14, 25 or 31 December.

While Virgin Atlantic doesn’t fly to Thailand, you’ll be very comfortable in Air France business class, which has incredible availability every day from 8-17 December as well as 22, 24, 29, 30 December and 5-7, 12-15 and 18-23 January.

Bottom line

There is excellent availability to some of the world’s most popular beach destinations at times when the weather will be anything but warm in the U.K. Remember, using points gives you good security and protection should it still not be safe to travel at these dates — you can change or refund redemption bookings for a small fee.

Don’t forget to check at the handy Seatspy tool to quickly find availability using your points and miles and give you some travel inspiration too.
