BA and Kenya Airways announce codeshare agreement.
British Airways has announced a new codeshare with Kenya Airways, in a move designed to boost business and tourism between African destinations and Europe.
The partnership will give passengers additional travel options and better flight schedules through the two airlines’ hubs in London and Nairobi.
BA customers will be able to connect seamlessly to Mombasa, Zanzibar, Lusaka, Doula, Addis Ababa, Entebbe, Mauritius and the Seychelles, among other African destinations.
While the codeshare opens up 26 destinations in the UK and Europe for Kenya Airways travellers.
“After a difficult 20 months with global travel restrictions, it’s fantastic to see travel between the UK and Africa resuming,” British Airways Head of Alliances Christopher Fordyce said.
Julius Thairu, Chief Commercial and Customer Officer of Kenya Airways, also spoke of his delight about the codeshare agreement.
“We are delighted to secure this strategic codeshare agreement with British Airways to provide our travelers with a seamless journey to and from Europe and Africa.
“The agreement will increase choices for thousands of passengers and will allow for smooth connectivity to a significant number of new destinations – particularly throughout Africa and Europe.”
British Airways currently offers four flights per week from London Heathrow to Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, operated by a four-class Boeing 777 aircraft, offering cabins from economy right up to first class.
Kenya’s flag carrier operates a five-times-weekly flight schedule between Nairobi and London, operated on the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner.
