St Athan based MRO Caerdav has announced that it plans to move into Cargo conversions to tap into the rapidly expanding cargo conversion market.
The global demand for freighter aircraft has increased rapidly in 2020 fuelled largely by the Coronavirus Pandemic and the reduction in passenger travel meaning that belly cargo availability has reduced.
Caerdav, formerly known as Cardiff Aviation, chairman Bruce Dickinson said: “In addition to our own world-class MRO facility, we have access to a huge pool of local, experienced engineering talent – making the move into cargo conversions the next logical step for the business.

“With an ability to offer end-of-lease, C-checks and other Part-145 maintenance work, Caerdav will become a ‘one stop shop’ for all aspects of the industry, it’s a very exciting proposition.”
Both Boeing and Airbus have predicted the need for around 2,500 dedicated freighter aircraft over the next 20 years and combined with the fact that many airlines are phasing out passenger aircraft such as the Boing 747 which are perfect candidates for Cargo conversions. Many of which are already on Caerdav’s doorstep!
