Couple with dog who slid out of a moving Delta plane blame their PTSD
Couple flee moving plane prior to takeoff.
A Florida couple were arrested after activating the emergency slide of a moving Delta Air Lines plane and jumping out with their dog.
The Atlanta-bound plane was taxiing towards the runway at LaGuardia Airport when witnesses say an agitated-looking male passenger forced open the front cabin door.
A flight attendant said the man remarked: “I need to get off the plane. I don’t want to sit here. I’m gonna pop the door.”
After sliding down the emergency slide, the man, identified as 31-year-old Antonio Murdock, and his partner, 23-year-old Brianna Greco, casually walked away from the plane.
They were later found with their dog in a restricted area of the airport and subsequently arrested. The dog was taken to an animal shelter.
Murdock and Greco are now facing charges including criminal mischief , reckless endangerment and trespassing, among others.
As he left a Queens criminal court Tuesday, Murdock told reporters, “I just want to see my fiancee,” CNN affiliate WCBS reported.
“I panicked. I have panic attacks. That’s it. I didn’t hurt anybody,” Murdock said. “I have mental health issues.”
According to the Queens District Attorney’s Office, Murdock is due back in court February 9, and Greco is scheduled to appear on March 21.
