Great Avios availability to Ibiza, Mykonos and other top beach destinations this summer from just £0.50p + Avios

Just when we’d started to lose hope of jetting off for a much needed post-lockdown break this summer, the U.K. government published a list of 59 countries that we can visit without having to quarantine when returning home. The chances are, thanks to flight cancellations and refunds galore, you might have a stack of Avios burning a hole in your BA Executive Club account, but aren’t sure what to do with them.

Even though the summer and school holidays are already upon us, that all-important Avios redemption availability for Reward Flight Savers

to Europe is wide open to many destinations across Europe, including some of the all-time British favourites like Ibiza (IBZ) and Mykonos (JKM). Not just that, but if you’re short of Avios right now, there are still some pretty hot deals just waiting to be snapped up.

So you could be jetting off on a last-minute beach break this summer for pocket change, plus some Avios of course.

Thanks to some help from one of TPG’s favourite easy-to-use tools SeatSpy, we’ve found that there is at least one seat available in Euro Traveller (economy) on flights from London (LHR) to Malaga (GVA), Ibiza (IBZ), Dubrovnik (DBV), Palermo (PMO), Mykonos (JMK) and Corfu (CFU).

Flights to these Spanish, Croatian and Italian destinations will set you back 11,000 Avios (off peak) or 12,000 Avios (peak) and + £0.50p.

As Greece is a little further away, flights to Mykonos and Corfu will cost a few more Avios: either 13,000 (off peak), or 14,500 (peak) + £0.50p.

On many of the dates where there is no Euro Traveller availability, there were plenty of seats still available in Club Europe (business class) during the same period. It’s worth noting that due to COVID-19, BA’s business-class lounge operations and onboard service will be slightly different to what regular British Airways fliers might be used to.

Booking with Avios is a good way to pay with confidence during these uncertain times, as you can cancel and receive all your Avios back as long as it’s 24 hours or more before the scheduled departure date, though you’ll have to pay a cancellation of £35 per ticket.

If you want to get booking, it’s also worth noting that BA has currently suspended operations out of Gatwick (LGW), so the flights that are scheduled from LGW may change to Heathrow (LHR). Though at this time, it remains to be seen what BA plans to do in the months ahead.
