Saudi Arabian Airlines has been awarded the title of Five-Star Global Airline by the Airline Passenger Experience Association (APEX).
The airline, also known as Saudia, accepted the the accolade at an awards ceremony in Jeddah.
The APEX Official Airline Ratings is the first non-profit rating program based solely on certified passenger feedback.
Saleh Al-Jasser, minister of tr ansport and chairman of Saudia, said that the award reflects the success of the airline’s comprehensive transformation plan.

“Congratulations to Saudia ascending to become an APEX 2021 Five Star Global Airline based on the independently verified passenger votes via TripIt across thousands of Saudia flights,” APEX CEO Dr. Joe Leader stated.
Commenting on the prestigious title, Ibrahim Al-Omar, director general of Saudia, said: “This achievement comes as a direct result of hard work and major investments in improving the airline’s operational capabilities.
“The timing of the ranking, which follows the global pandemic that shook the aviation sector, also stands as a strong and credible testimony to our success in managing the crisis and leveraging the opportunity to focus on training our cabin crew and further developing our services.”
In recent years Saudia has invested significantly in its business and operates one of the youngest fleets in the skies, with an average aircraft age of only 5 years.
