Seychelles reportedly plans to re-open to tourists with negative PCR test in March 
Good news for anyone looking to travel to one of the best beach destinations on the planet. Starting next month, the Government of the paradisiacal archipelago will require only a negative PCR for tourists wanting to enter the country.
According to the Seychelles News Agency, in the first phase of the plan – which has already started – visitors will be required to present proof of vaccination agains Covid-19 and a negative PCR test. Those who meet this criteria can already visit the country.
In the second half of March, the government of Seychelles intends to change the entry rules, dropping the requirement for both the vaccination certificate and the PCR test, demanding only proof of a negative test. This change is justified by the fact that local authorities plan to have 70% of the population vaccinated by this time, which, according to government officials, will result in group immunity.
e hope that this will open up the tourism industry for the locals primarily for the small hotels who are struggling on La Digue, Praslin and also on Mahe. And also provide the kick that our economy desperately needs – Seychelles Tourism Minister Sylvester Radigonde said at a press conference.
The vaccination campaign started 5 days ago and around 2,000 Sinopharm vaccines have already been administered, with the local government setting the goal of being able to vaccinate 44,000 people per month.
