For safe swimming somewhere more secluded, try Playa Rincon

on the Samana Peninsula. This undeveloped and remote beach can be reached by a 30-minute boat ride from the town of Las Galeras, or by a 30-minute drive. Playa Macao and Playa Bahoruco are popular with surfers.
