Portuguese Star Alliance member TAP Portugal currently offer a nice status match challenge. By owning a tier membership in a non Star Alliance frequent traveller program, you may get the Miles&Go Silver (= Star Alliance Silver) or Miles&Go Gold (= Star Alliance Gold) tier without much trouble.
The four steps of TAP’s Miles&Go Status Match Challenge
Who is eligible?
You need a silver or gold tier membership with a non-Star-Alliance frequent flyer program to participate in this challenge. According to a list on TAP’s website, following programs are accepted:

Buy Reward Miles or Join Club = Status Until End of May 2020
Unlike other status match challenges, you need to pay some extra money before TAP matches your status. In return, you do not need to complete any flights! You can either pay for a Miles&Go Club membership or buy some miles.
The first option is a 12-month membership that costs at least €99. Depending on the membership level, you’ll have different benefits, which you can view here. Take a look at what the Club has to offer, maybe there’s a benefit that sounds interesting to you.
Should you not be interested in joining the Miles&Go Club, you can also simply buy some miles. The cheapest option is buying 2,000 miles for €70.

You need to finish the transaction within 10 days after you receive a notification from TAP. You’ll then get your new status for at least 12 months.
That means: You can get the Star Alliance Gold status for €70, with all its benefits, e.g. lounge access. You can purchase miles here after activating your membership.
Fly & Earn Miles = Status For Another Year
If you want to maintain your status longer than 12 months, you’ll have to fly! You need to accumulate the following mileage:
25,000 tier miles (and 4 TAP flights) for Miles&Go Gold
10,000 tier miles (and 2 TAP flights) for Miles&Go Silver
This is still a rather generous offer. The regular requirement to earn Miles&Go Gold is 70,000 miles and 50,000 miles to retain it.
How to Participate
This offer is officially reserved for Miles&Go-members who registered after January 1st, 2020. You can easily sign up by using the regular sign-up form, where you have the opportunity to upload a scan of your frequent flyer membership card:
If you’re a member already or forgot to upload a scan of your card, you can send an e-mail to statusmatch@tapmilesandgo.com.
You then only need to purchase the miles or join the club, within 10 days of receiving a notification from TAP.

Aside from lounge access before intercontinental flights, Miles&Go Silver isn’t anything special.
