How: Over-12s must present a negative Covid-19 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test taken no more than seven days before arrival, as well as completing a health declaration, and undergoing health screening at the airport in Antigua. Accommodation must be government-approved, and visitors are monitored for Covid for up to 14 days. A curfew from 11pm-5am is in place until the end of the year; picnics and alcohol are also prohibited on beaches (visitantiguabarbuda.com/travel-advisory).
British Airways has a week at the Antigua Yacht Club Marina Resort from £621pp, with Gatwick flights on 15 November. If the UK introduces quarantine for arrivals from Antigua after booking, you can cancel and claim a voucher. The same can be done up to three weeks before travel for any reason. How: Cuba is reopening to international tourists, with most areas now accessible, including the resorts. At the moment, there is no international transport in or out of Havana and the provinces of Sancti Spiritus and Ciego de Avila also remain closed to visitors (cubatravel.cu/en).
Air passengers will have their temperature checked on arrival and be given a PCR test, with results available after 48 hours. During this period you can travel to your hotel
and use its facilities. If a positive result is returned, travellers will be hospitalised. Travellers need the usual “tourist card” (visa) to enter Cuba.
TUI offers a week in Varadero from £752pp, staying at the Ocean Vista Azul all-inclusive, with flights from Gatwick on 12 November and transfers. You can amend your holiday for free if you contract Covid-19 or need to isolate prior to departure, or if your local area goes into lockdown. tui.co.uk.
How: From 1 October, the Seychelles gave a number of countries “special status” for travel, including the UK. Visitors from these countries need to complete a health travel authorisation as well as a PCR test. The latter should be done no more than 48 hours before departure and a negative result shown on arrival, before additional temperature and symptom checks. Visitors must then stay in government-approved accommodation for five days without leaving the premises, at which point they take another PCR test, and can continue their holiday if the result is negative (advisory.seychelles.travel).
How: Tourists must present a negative PCR test result, issued no more than 96 hours prior to departure. Arrivals are health-screened and moved to a quarantine facility if Covid-19 is suspected, with a mandatory PCR test at the cost of the traveller or their accommodation provider. Random testing is also in operation, but not at travellers’ cost (visitmaldives.com/en/covid19-updates).

Canary Islands (Spain)
How: 48 hours prior to travel, visitors must fill out a mandatory contact locator and health screening form at spth.gob.es. Temperature checks and visual health assessments take place on arrival at each of the island’s airports. Failure to complete any of these requirements will result in being seen by a health professional.
If you live in a “very high” alert/Tier 3 area of England or in Wales (until at least 13 November) you should not travel beyond the area in which you live. Residents of Scotland’s “central belt” should consider whether travel is essential; new restrictions across Scotland will come into force on 2 November.
How: Travellers must present a negative PCR test result taken no more than 72 hours before landing. They also need to complete and embarkation/disembarkation card online 24 hours prior to travel, including uploading the test result. There is health screening on arrival, before quarantine at government-approved accommodation for four to five days, when another PCR test is taken (visitbarbados.org/covid-19-travel-guidelines-2020).
Virgin Holidays has two weeks at the Time Out Hotel from £956pp, with flights from Heathrow on 23 November and transfers. Bookings made for travel up to 31 August 2021 can be amended free of charge; cancellations incur a fee. virginholidays.co.uk.

How: Over-fives must demonstrate a negative PCR test taken no more than seven days prior to departure; over-18s must also submit a travel registration form at least three days before travel. On arrival, passengers are health screened. International visitors must stay at an approved property, and can leave only to take part in approved, organised activities, tours and excursions (stlucia.org/en_UK/covid-19).
First Choice offers a week’s B&B at the Harbor Club in Rodney Bay from £902pp, including flights from Gatwick on 10 November and transfers. First Choice lets travellers change their holiday for free if they contract Covid-19, must isolate prior to departure, or their area goes into lockdown. firstchoice.co.uk.

How: Visitors must apply for a travel authorisation (TA) between one and three days before departure ($75/£57 for ages 10 and up, $30/£23 for under-10s). Over-10s need to provide proof of a negative PCR test taken no more than seven days before departure in order to obtain a TA. There are also tests on arrival and on days four, eight and 14 of any visit. Travellers only need to quarantine until they receive their arrival test results, with turnaround usually within 24 hours (gotobermuda.com/guide-bermuda-bound-travellers).
Lastminute.com has a week at Sandpiper Apartments in Warwick Camp from £1,239pp including one-stop flights from Edinburgh, departing 13 November. The package includes free hotel cancellation up to two weeks before travel, and Lastminute.com offers an optional premium for £7.28pp to avoid handling fees in the event of needing to change or cancel the trip (that may not cover airline charges).
