Covid positive passenger self-isolates in toilet.

A female passenger volunteered to self-isolate for nearly five hours in a plane toilet last week after testing positive for Covid aboard an Icelandair flight.

Michigan-based teacher Marisa Fotieo’s throat began to hurt during the Chicago to Reykjavik flight, prompting her to perform a rapid Covid test which showed as positive.

“I just took my rapid test and I brought it into the bathroom, and within what felt like two seconds there were two lines [indicating a positive test],” Fotieo told NBC News.

“There’s 150 people on the flight, and my biggest fear was giving it to them,” she said.

Fotieo quickly informed the flight attendants, before spending the remainder of the flight in the lavatory as there were not enough empty rows in the cabin to social distance.

She posted a video on TikTok to a song called “I’m So Lucky,” attracting over four million views.

“Shout out to @Icelandair for my VIP quarantine quarters..” she captioned the video with #luxuryliving and #imsolucky hashtags.

The early childhood teacher was forced to quarantine upon arrival in Reykjavik and will unlikely make it to her final destination of Switzerland before she is due back at work in Michigan.
