Woman starts shooting gun at Dallas Love Field.

A 37-year-old woman was shot and injured by a police officer on Monday after she fired several rounds inside Dallas Love Field Airport in Texas.

The incident began at about 11 a.m. when Portia Odufuwa arrived at the airport and went to the ticket counters, Dallas Police Chief Eddie Garcia said.

According to reports, she then went to the bathroom where she put on a hoodie before emerging from the restroom and firing her handgun at the terminal ceiling.

An officer immediately engaged Odufuwa, who was shot in the lower extremities and taken into custody. She was taken to Parkland Hospital.

“No other individuals were injured in this event other than the suspect,” Garcia said.

Footage taken from passengers in the airport shows the moment the airport began lockdown procedures.

Airport operations were suspended so travellers could be evacuated and re-screened by security.

The Transportation Safety Administration tweeted at around 2 p.m. that normal security checkpoints had resumed.

Lanasha Darnell, 43, of Forney, Texas, who has worked at the airport since 2020, said that she saw people running through the terminal.

“We have drills on evacuation and where we’re supposed to go to, but in the middle of it, that’s all out the window,” Darnell said.

Police in Wylie, Texas, later confirmed that Odufuwa had been arrested in 2019 for allegedly attempting to rob a bank. In that incident, they said she passed a note to a teller demanding money, then fled on foot before being taken into custody.
