British flag carrier British Airways has taken delivery of another Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. The new aircraft, registered G-STBN, arrived in London as flight BA 9151 at 09:03 this morning.
Many airlines have put the brakes on aircraft deliveries as a result of the current pandemic. This has seen the number of aircraft leaving the sites of both Boeing and Airbus taking a tumble. However, while airlines such as JetBlue have agreed to delivery deferrals, others such as Delta with its Airbus A220s, have continued accepting new aircraft for their fleets. British airways is one of these airlines.
Another new Boeing 777-300ER
There has been a renewed interest in the Boeing 777 for British Airways. After many years of no deliveries of the type, British Airways took another Boeing 777-300ER last quarter. The aircraft, registered as G-STBM, was the first Boeing 777 to be delivered with the airline’s new Club Suite cabin, and the first aircraft to be delivered with British Airways’ modified First Suite. But more on that later.

British Airways today took delivery of G-STBN. According to data from planespotters.net, the aircraft carries the line number 1671. According to data from popular flight tracking website FlightRadar24.com, the aircraft completed just two flights before its delivery today. While the aircraft was due to depart from Seattle at 15:55 yesterday, it actually didn’t get airborne until 16:33. With a flight time of eight hours and 33 minutes, the aircraft arrived in its new London Heathrow home at 09:03 this morning.
The new British Airways First
The Boeing 777-300ER delivered today is currently a part of a very exclusive group. It is one of only two aircraft that currently have the airline’s new first class suite installed in the cabin. The suite is essentially the same as the current British Airways first class seat, with the addition of sliding doors to allow it to fully close.
British Airways was left in an odd position once it rolled out its new Club Suite business class cabin. Of course, the dated cabin was in much need of a refresh. However, in doing so, the airline ensured that its business class cabin actually offered more at seat privacy than its first class cabin. However, we shouldn’t forget that with the reduced cabin size of First, it remains an exclusive cabin.
