It has a relaxed vibe but still offers a good selection of food and drink, and activities including volleyball, kayaking and horseback riding.
For safe swimming somewhere more secluded, try Playa Rincon on the Samana Peninsula. This undeveloped and remote beach can be reached by a 30-minute boat ride from the town of Las Galeras, or by a 30-minute drive. Playa Macao and Playa Bahoruco are popular with surfers.
