Masca Valley and Los Gigantes, Tenerife This green and flourishing valley in the western part of Tenerife is situated at around 600 meters above the sea level. This spectacular area is named after an impressively isolated and picturesque Masca village. You can hike the Masca Barranco, a 4.5 km descent through incredible, narrow Masca Gorge, from the village to black sand beach (Playa de Masca) and then take a boat to Los Gigantes. Despite requiring the use of hands for support in a couple of places and often being steep, the trail easy enough for relatively experienced hikers (it takes about 3 h one way). The landscape is volcanic with fantastic rock formations and vertical cliffs hundreds of meters high. During the boat trip to Los Gigantes you might see dolphins or whales.
