S7 Airlines first to allow passengers to rent whole plane

Russia’s largest airline has just launched the industry’s first flight sharing app, which allows users to rent the entire plane.
S7 Airlines has partnered with car-sharing platform Yandex.Drive to build the S7 Select mobile app, enabling users to book entire planes to fly around Russia.
Users can calculate the cost of renting out the whole plane based on their destination, date, cabin class and any additional services. After receiving a quote, an S7 operator will contact the customer to finalize the transaction.

To get an idea of the costs, a one-way flight for 50 passengers in economy class between Moscow and Sochi would be approximately $18,200 for renting the whole plane.
The airline provides the same inflight services as standard routes, however, the airlines has suggested additional requests can be made.
The collaboration is set to last only two weeks with S7 Airlines pledging to expand the service after this period.
Currently, the app consists of one-way and roundtrip domestic flights departing from only Moscow. Many more routes are expected to soon be added.
