Phone bursts into flames as plane arrives in Seattle.

A Samsung Galaxy A21 caught fire in the cabin of an Alaska Airlines flight as it landed in Seattle from New Orleans on Monday evening.

According to reports, just as the jet touched down, the phone overheated and began sparkling prompting crew to order an evacuation.

As evacuation slides were deployed, the crew used fire extinguishers and a battery containment bag to “stop the phone from smoking” any further.

“The crew acted swiftly using fire extinguishers and a battery containment bag to stop the phone from smoking,” an Alaska Airlines spokesperson told McClatchy News in a statement.

“Crew members deployed the evacuation slides due to hazy conditions inside the cabin.”

Passengers were then taken by bus to the terminal, and two received treatment at a hospital.

The airport tweeted about the incident, saying “only minor scrapes and bruises were reported” during the incident.

In 2017, Samsung found that the overheating and burning of its Galaxy Note 7 devices was caused by faults with their batteries.

The manufacture recalled more than 1 million Note 7 phones shipped to consumers in the United States.

The company is reportedly looking into the Alaska Airlines incident to determine if there is a manufacturing fault in the Galaxy A21.
