Baobabs
Ifaty, located on the south west coastline, is the desert inland area known for its spiny forest where strange-shaped baobab trees have thrived for centuries. Montagne des Français, in northern Madagascar, is one of the best places to see one of the most beautiful baobabs, Adansonia suarezensis.
Avenue of the Baobabs is a group of trees lining the dirt road between Morondava and Belon'i Tsiribihina in western Madagascar. Its striking landscape draws tourists from around the world making it one of the most visited locations in the region. The baobab trees, up to 800 years old, originally stood in a dense tropical forest. Some 7 km further to the northwest there are the famous Baobab Amoureux – two trees twisted together.
