Thailand to scrap on-arrival COVID tests from May!

Thailand today announced the end of compulsory Covid-19 tests for vaccinated travellers, as the country steps up efforts to revive its pandemic-thumped tourism industry.

Fully vaccinated travellers arriving in Thailand from 1st May 2022 will no longer need to take any COVID-19 tests, nor make SHA++ hotel bookings or face an isolation period.

“Many countries have already eased their restrictions,” Thai Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha said. “We are a country that relies on the tourism industry, especially during these times. This will help move the economy forward.” Under the new rules announced by the Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration.

Unvaccinated travellers will either need to show a negative test result taken within 72 hours of departure for Thailand or undergo five days of hotel quarantine and a test.

All visitors still must register with an online “Thailand Pass” system and provide proof of health insurance with coverage of at least USD10,000 for COVID-19 treatment.
