Shares of Turkish airports and carriers including Turkish Airlines rose on Monday as some domestic flights resumed following weeks of a coronavirus-related halt, as the country started to ease restrictions meant to curb the pandemic. Turkey’s flag carrier, which flew to 126 countries before the coronavirus outbreak, resumed domestic flights on Monday after some two months of suspensions due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The flag carrier’s stock was up 2.3% while budget carrier Pegasus rose by 1.25% at 0713 GMT. Shares of airport operator TAV Havalimanlari were up some 2.5% on the Istanbul bourse, Reuters reported.

As international flights resume around the world, all airlines are instituting measures to assure passengers of flying safely in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic. Turkish Airlines, which has established an extensive international network over the past few years is inching back after a two month shutdown, starting International flights to six countries within Europe

“Following two months spent away from the skies, our global brand is preparing for the new era by coordinating with national and international authorities,” Turkish Airlines stated.

The airline is also implementing procedures to minimize contact, maintain social distancing and increase the level of decontamination. Aircraft undergo a two stage fogging before every flight and have clean air systems refreshing the air every three minutes and a flow system to direct cabin air up to HEPA filters. Passengers shouldn’t expect to see pillows or blankets in flights under four hours—in longer flights, where there are blankets, they’ve been cleaned at high temperatures with special chemicals after every flight, Forbes wrote.
