The Philippines will re-open to fully vaccinated tourists in February
Philippine’s Government announced this Friday that the re-opening of the country to fully vaccinated visi tors will happen next month. No quarantine will be required.
The government will remove quarantine requirements for returning Filipinos from February 1, and for foreign tourists from February 10, but they must be vaccinated and test negative for COVID-19.
France 24 adds that this negative test will be required “shortly before flying to the country” which means that, according to the statement, its very likely that no test will be required on or after arrival.
These new entry rules apply to nationals from countries who have visa-free entry to the Philippines and are justified, in part, due to the high-transmission rates in the country:
Health Undersecretary Rosario Vergeire said it made no sense to restrict international travellers when Covid-19 transmission rates in the Philippines were so high, “maybe even higher” than in some countries.
